she whispered. I m glad you found me in the dark.
He swallowed the lump of emotion that formed in his throat. She d
heard his conversation. He forgot for a moment about the formidable
hearing of the panther in them.
I m glad we found each other, he whispered.
He smiled and closed his eyes when she sighed and fell asleep. He was
starting to believe that he actually found his redemption in her arms.

She woke up to find him gone and picked up voices from outside the
tepee. It was already dark. But she didn t know exactly what time it was
exactly. She stretched and felt the soft bedding against her skin and
grinned before looking for her clothes. They d spent the day in bed loving
and laughing. They ate lunch outside and actually ventured into the woods
for a walk in human form. Their fingers were interlaced not wanting to
break the connection they d formed. And when she fell asleep again it was
because her body was completely satisfied. If her smile got any bigger, she
was liable to split her face.
She pulled on sneakers and found a clean shirt in the duffle bag lying
in the corner. She wished she had a brush to fix the mess that was her hair.
Improvising, she used a rubber band to put it up into a ponytail and
winced knowing getting it would be a tad bit painful to remove it later.
When she stepped out of the teepee all eyes were on her, and the
conversation ceased.
Um, hi, she said as she crossed over to Zander s side.
One of the men gave a low whistle. You were holding out on us,
Zander.
Mine and only mine. She could hear the warning in his voice.
A big man with arms that looked the size of one of her thighs grinned.
Why don t you pee on her leg and get it over with?

Zander replied casually, I just might.
How about no one pee on anything, and we call it even? Aisha
suggested.
That works too. Introduce us to the lovely miss, Big and Burly said.
Zander shook his head. Aisha, these guys are the unit called Army
Beasts. The huge one who looks like he ate a tractor is Malachi. The guy
leering from the computer is Camden, and if he doesn t stop it, I ll tell
Sable when I meet her.
Camden held up his hands. Enough said, man& . and eyes down,
Nice to meet you, Aisha.
Aisha grinned, loving the friendly atmosphere and camaraderie she felt
around the campfire.
The guy with the plate shoving food in his mouth is Kale, Zander
continued.
We left you a steak and stuff. Zander said to bring it, oh and hi, Kale
said.
She rose up on her tiptoes to kiss Zander on the mouth. You are such
a sweetheart.
The men guffawed, and Zander shot them a glare. The mirror image
coming out of the woods is my brother Zane, and the guy making cooing
noises on the phone is Casey. His wife gave birth to a seven pound baby
girl named Chloe. But we ve already decided she s a princess.
Casey said bye and I love you before coming over to show her a
picture on his phone. There was a wrinkled little baby dressed in a pink
hat with a bow being held in the arms of her mother.
Those are my girls, he said proudly.
They are both very beautiful. You ll need a shot gun when she s a
teenager, Aisha teased.
Daddy s got a bazooka. Casey grinned. Welcome to our ragtag
family.
Zane came up next and took her hand, and she stared up into the same
eyes as Zander. You seemed to have changed my brother from the eternal
grouch that he was. You have our thanks.

Melodramatic much? Zander rolled his eyes.
Seriously, man, you were working my last nerve with the angst,
Camden piped in. I swore you were one of those brooding vamps from
those books the teen girls read.
And how would you know unless you ve read them? Zander shot
back.
All eyes went to Camden.
Hey now, I have nieces, and they tell me stuff, he retorted. I will go
on record and take a polygraph to prove I never touched one of those
books.
It s a book for the love of Pete, not a stripper in the oval office,
Malachi said. Aisha, your meal is in the hot bag, but you better get it
before one of these mooks polishes it off. I even got you a piece of
chocolate cake for dessert.
Aisha sighed and pointed to him and then her heart. You are now my
favorite and have a place right in here.
Suck up, Kale muttered.
Wish I d thought of it, Camden said.
She s still my girl, so all you can kick rocks, Zander announced.
She was grinning from ear to ear listening to the banter back and forth
when she got her food. She never felt more at home among a bunch of
strangers in her life. Knowing that this was a side of Zander that they
rarely saw gave her the most pleasure. If she could give him just as much
happiness as he had given to her, she would count it a job well done. He
had a sparkle in his eyes, one she didn t see when they first met. That was
all that mattered. She grabbed her food and her cake and sat down on the
ground close to the fire listening while they planned.
So Genesis Corporation is located here in Georgia on a piece of ten
acre private property. Casey rolled out a map so everyone could take a

Camden shot him a dirty look for interrupting, and he mouthed sorry
and waved him to continue.
He approached Genesis, and they took a second set of his samples of
Zander and his genetic material. I m sorry to say, dude, they had your
swimmers too. They were trying to create embryos, cloning and the likes.
Isn t that illegal, to clone humans and such? I thought it was only
done to a sheep or something? Aisha asked.
It s very illegal. I mean worldwide consequences, Camden said.
But they kept it buried with a whole pile of money on top. So far with
what I ve learned it s like five billion dollars worth of payoff to the right
people.
A lot of dough, Malachi murmured.
That s only a part of what they ve thrown into the project, Camden
said. Some bank records have been conveniently erased. I assume they
